Were the next parliamentary elections held this Sunday, the majority of those polled would vote for the Social Democrats, while the Labor Party dropped to the 4th place among the country's most popular parties – ranks of their supporters dropped from 10.4 percent in June to 7.8 percent in July, delfi.lt news portal said.
According to the survey, the ruling Lithuanian Social Democratic Party would secure 24.4 percent of the vote.
The second party on the popularity list would be the ruling Order and Justice party with 9.4 percent of the vote, far behind the Social Democrats.
Opposition Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (Conservatives) kept their third place with support of 8.7 percent of respondents.
The Labor Party ranks 4th, followed by the Liberal Movement with 6.9 percent.
According to the survey, parties below the election threshold would include the Lithuanian Peasant and Green Union (3.5 pct), the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania (3.3 pct), TAIP union (1.5 pct). However, the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania cannot be judged by representative polls, as the majority of the ethnic party's electorate live in a compact territory in southeastern Lithuania.
The poll was carried out by public opinion and market research company Spinter Tyrimai (Spinter Surveys) on July 26-31 for delfi.lt.
