"A plan of measures has been prepared and a government resolution has been drafted. It will be adopted at (the Cabinet's) meeting next week," he told reporters on the sidelines of an economic conference in Vilnius.

"The plan of measures will be a big one. Several working groups will be appointed. They will be headed by the Economic Ministry and the Social Security Ministry. Several working groups will be headed by the Bank of Lithuania," he said.

A special commission will monitor how the plan is being implemented and will be informed by the working groups on a monthly basis, Butkevičius said.

The Cabinet has postponed taking a decision on the plan until next week because Finance Minister Rimantas Šadžius is currently away, he added.

Lithuania aims to join the eurozone in 2015.
