"In terms of the minister of agriculture, there's a big question. Most probably another candidacy will be submitted," Butkevičius told reporters at the Seimas.

Following a meeting with Kuklierius, Butkevičius said he had doubts over whether the candidate would implement the new center-left coalition's government program.

On Monday, Butkevičius said Kuklierius "is not a person from the outside. He's been working in this system, at the Ministry of Agriculture for many years. He's not a novice." But he also said he had many questions to the candidate.

Kuklierius is a member of the Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats and run for parliament as the party's candidate.

Kuklierius is a graduate of the Lithuanian University of Agriculture, and has also studies in Denmark, the UK, and the US.
