The resolution was adopted 536-111 with 44 abstentions, Robertas Pogorelis, a spokesman for the European Parliament, told BNS.
Under the proposal, Germany, which now has 99 seats in the Parliament, would lose three, while Lithuania and 11 more member states would give up one seat each.
Some EU member states will lose seats following Croatia's accession to the EU. Croatia will also have 11 seats in the Parliament.
The proposal still needs backing of the EU Council.
