The Ministry of National Defense on Wednesday presented a package of draft resolutions for the fulfillment of the obligation, provided for in the Law on Renewable Resources, to coordinate the design and construction of wind turbines with the Lithuanian army and other institutions ensuring the country's national security.

"The draft resolutions include the proposal to draw up a special map with marked territories where certain restrictions to the design and construction of wind turbines might be applied. Taking into account the fact that wind turbines cause major interruption to the work of airspace surveillance equipment (radars) and disturb surveillance and control of airspace by means of radars, the need for ensuring airspace surveillance, control and defense will be taken into account while drafting up the above-mentioned map," the ministry said in a statement.
