The speaker believes that Lithuanians living in Russia, Australia, or New Zealand should not be discriminated against.

"After the occupation, many people of Lithuanian nationality live in Russia, and they were not deported because they chose to be. Lithuanians also live in Australia, New Zealand, which are not members of NATO and the EU. These people are not different from the ones who emigrated to the United States or EU countries," Gedvilas said in an interview to Laisvoji Banga radio on Friday morning.

The parliament is currently considering a referendum on dual citizenship, which could be held in conjunction with the presidential elections next year. Dual citizenship is now strictly limited by the Constitution.
