Ona Valiukevičiūtė, an MP representing the Order and Justice party and member of the Seimas Committee on Education, Science and Culture, wants a provision to be included into the Law on Children's Rights, stating that any form of violence against children is forbidden. Currently, the law bans torturing, hurting children as well as violating children's honor and dignity.

The MP wants violence against children to be defined as all forms of sexual, physical, psychological and emotional violence, humiliation and exploitation of children, lack of care and all forms of neglect causing threat to a child's life, factual and potential harm to a child's health, survival, development or dignity as well as corporal punishment.

Valiukevičiūtė had previously proposed a similar bill but it was voted down by the Lithuanian parliament.
