Before the appointment, Pranevičiūtė-Neliupšienė was an adviser in the team of foreign policy advisers, Vilniaus Diena daily reports.
Presidential spokeswoman Dalia Ulbinaitė said that the new senior adviser was appointed by Grybauskaitė's decree on Monday.
In the post of senior foreign policy adviser, Pranevičiūtė-Neliupšienė replaced Darius Semaška who will soon take an ambassadorial position in the Netherlands.
Pranevičiūtė-Neliupšienė, 32, is a doctor of political sciences and has been working in Grybauskaitė's team since the start of her tenure in 2009. She is also a lecturer at Vilnius University's International Relations and Political Science Institute.
