Lithuanian Seimas office to have its 2014 budget cut by 1.45 million euros

The 2014 budget of the Lithuanian parliament's office is projected to be 5 million litas (EUR 1.45m) lower than the 2013 spending, according to the draft presented to the parliament's leadership on Wednesday.

Under the draft, the 2014 Seimas budget should total at about 87 million litas, as compared with 92 million litas this year and 84 million litas in 2012.

"Next year, we will significantly cut the money for the presidency over the European Union Council," Parliamentary Vice-Speaker Algirdas Sysas, a member of the ruling Social Democrats, told BNS after a meeting of the Seimas board.
