Lithuanian Social Democrats collected most membership fees

Lithuania's Social Democratic Party collected 643,803 litas (EUR 186,600) in membership fees last year, the biggest amount among all political parties of the country, according to documentation submitted to the Central Electoral Commission.

The latest figure of party membership is not available but the Social Democrats indicated 18,800 members by the end of 2010.

In 2011, Order and Justice Party collected 447,457 litas in membership fees, the party has listed 14,000 members in earlier documents.

Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats said they generated 186,289 litas from membership fees over 2011, the party had 16,500 members in late 2010.

According to the documentation, membership fees collected by Lithuanian Party of Peasants and Greens last year amounted to 120,591 litas (2,800 members), Labor Party reported 118,730 litas (12,500 members), Electoral Action of Lithuanian Poles collected 96,634 litas (1,200 members) and Liberal Movement 81,596 litas (3,200 members).

Liberal and Center Union said it still had over 19,000 litas collected from the 2011 membership fee, noting that over 80 litas had been spent, while the total amount was not indicated in the explanatory note. The party reported 4,400 members in the end of 2010.

Socialist People's Front indicated having generated 9,442 litas from membership fees and did not reveal its membership number; Union of Lithuanian Russians collected 1,836 litas from 1,400 members and Lithuanian People's Front received 1,336 litas but withheld the number of its members.
