The Commission decided on Tuesday evening to allocate over LTL 152,000 (EUR 44,000) for the purpose. The lion's share will be used for additional compensation to staff, while the remaining money will be used for technical purposes.

Pursuant to the Lithuanian Law on Elections to the Seimas, the national broadcaster is obliged to cooperate with the Central Electoral Commission in providing opportunities for all candidates to present their platforms. Such discussions on TV and radio should be funded from the state budget allocations to the Central Electoral Commission, the law says.

The Seimas election is scheduled for 14 October.
