"Semaška is on the list of diplomats up for rotation this fall. Diplomats are rotated every 3-4 years, this is a usual diplomatic practice," presidential spokeswoman Daiva Ulbinaitė told BNS on Wednesday.

Semaška, the head of the Foreign Policy Group at the President's Office, is proposed to head Lithuania's Embassy to the Netherlands.

Matulionis should be designated as Lithuania's diplomatic envoy to Germany.

Prior to their service at the President's Office and the government, both Semaška and Matulionis served at the Foreign Ministry.

Their candidacies are discussed by the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee on Wednesday.

In Lithuania, ambassadors are appointed and dismissed by the president in response to proposition from the government and with approval from the Foreign Affairs Committee.
