This year, the traditional meeting focused on the upcoming Lithuanian EU Presidency and ensuring energy security, the President's Office said.
Grybauskaitė believes that the EU Presidency is a test of Lithuanian's administrative and diplomatic capabilities, therefore, it is important to ensure smooth work of the country's institutions and embassies abroad.
"By presiding over the EU Council, we have a unique opportunity to demonstrate that we are capable of responsibly accomplishing what we are committed. We will seek to create a safe, economically-stable Europe of well-being. The duty of all of us is to ensure smooth EU Presidency as well as to properly represent interests of all EU citizens," the president said.
Energy independence remains one of the key goals of Lithuania, the statement said. According to Grybauskaitė, it is very important for Lithuania to secure support of partner countries and EU institutions for the implementation of strategically-important energy links to Sweden and Poland.
Economic diplomacy and the opening of new markets is another important task for all embassies as export growth is a very important factor for Lithuania's recovery, Grybauskaitė said.
The head of state also underlined that the importance of transparent investments, especially from Nordic countries, encouraging a Western-style work and business culture, was growing amid improving business climate in Lithuania.
