"We received it yesterday. It will be discussed at the council's meeting on Feb. 23," Augulis said.
The corruption scandal at the local administration of Radviliškis, a town in northern Lithuania, broke out in mid-December. Officers of the Special Investigation Service detained Čepononis on Dec. 19 on charges of abuse of power, fraud and document forgery.
After a month of investigation, Čepononis was released on a bail of 30,000 litas (EUR 8,700) and a written pledge not to leave his place of residence.
Suspicions in the case have also been brought against the municipality's administrative director Eugenijus Pranevičius and council member Aloyzas Juodys. All of them were members of the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats before the scandal. Čepononis and Juodys had their membership suspended.
