Russia invites Lithuania to international defense policy conference in Moscow

Lithuania has received an invitation from Russia's Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu to the international defense policy conference to take place in Moscow in the end of May.

Lithuania will delegate participants to the event, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said.

„The Ministry of National Defense has received an invitation from the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu to the conference, the Ministry of National Defense will send its representatives to the event,“ the ministry said in a reply to BNS.

„Considering the broad spectrum of topics proposed for discussion at the conference, we are currently discussing the issues and topics that are the most relevant to us before deciding on the most suitable representatives,“ the ministry said.

On May 23-24, Moscow will host a conference titled Military and Political Aspects of European Security, the Russian Defense Ministry has said on its website.

According to the press release, among other officials invited to the forum are NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, heads of the Alliance's military institutions, as well as defense ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Collective Security Treaty Organization, foreign defense attaches accredited to Moscow and experts from Russian and international analytical centers.
