Seimas leaves Huawei behind the 5G fence: how are Lithuanian carriers reacting?

The largest Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer, Huawei, will not be participating in Lithuania’s implementation of 5G networks and operators will have up to the year 2025 to replace this supplier’s equipment and devices. This was revealed after a Seimas ruling this week. Network carriers say they will face a dearth of options but assure that they will cope fine with the aid of existing or new partners. The decision came as no surprise to either them or political experts – in the international context, Lithuania is walking in line with the USA and most EU countries.
