Mindaugas Balčiūnas, secretary general of the federation, said the idea has been discussed in informal circles and "received no objections."

"The intentions are there, however, no formal decisions have been made or presented on the federation or the state level," Balciunas told BNS.

In his words, the idea will be discussed further after EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia. EuroBasket 2015 will take place in Ukraine.

Estonia's daily newspaper Ohtuleht said on Thursday that heads of Latvian and Estonian basketball federations discussed the idea of co-hosting the sporting event with FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak in Tallinn.
