Eurostat: Lithuanians among EU leaders in terms of marriages, divorces

Lithuanians rank second in the European Union (EU) in terms of both marriages and divorces, shows fresh statistics published by the EU's Eurostat agency.

According to the data, 6.3 marriages are registered per population of 1,000 in Lithuania, which is only behind Cyprus (7.3).

In terms of terminated marriages, Lithuania is also second in the EU with 3.4 divorces per 1,000 residents. More marriages are registered in the neighboring Poland (4).

The Eurostat statistics include summarized 2011 data from all members of the EU.
