Language Prize to be bestowed upon principal of Lithuanian school in Riga

Lithuania's Language Prize 2012 will be bestowed upon Bronislava Aldona Treija, principal of the Lithuanian Secondary School in Riga.

The ceremony will be held the upcoming Wednesday at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society, according to the Chancellery of the Lithuanian Seimas.

Treija has been awarded for her charity work and efforts to cultivate the Lithuanian language and Lituanistics at the Lithuanian Secondary School in Riga. Thanks to her efforts, the number of children at the Riga-based Lithuanian schools has grown from nine to 300.

Treija is also an active member of the Lithuanian community in Latvia and organized Lithuanian events and meetings.
