Around 50 people who flew to Egypt for vacations organized by Tez Tour Lietuva and Novaturas returned from the African country on Monday. They were the last holidaymakers this summer season.

The two companies no longer organize flights to Egypt as trips have been stopped until late September, representatives of the two companies have informed BNS.

Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against travelling to Egypt.

Those who have already bought trips to Egypt from Novaturas for this summer season are offered other destinations, for example, Antalya, Turkey.

Around 800 people were killed in Egypt in the middle of August as the country's police and army tried to move supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood from protester camps in Cairo. A state of emergency was declared in the country and curfews were introduced in many provinces.

The situation has improved in recent days, and the army-backed Government of Egypt has shortened the curfew time.

Government figures show that over 1,000 people, including around 100 soldiers and police officers, have been killed in Egypt since July 3 when President Mohamed Morsi was removed from office.
