"The issue is currently being discussed in the EU institutions, therefore, we cannot provide further comment. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be cohesive and we will give an update as soon as a joint decision is made," Mindaugas Lašas of the ministry told BNS on Friday.
Foreign media said on Thursday that EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton proposed that ambassadors be returned to Belarus within a week prior to the ministerial meeting scheduled for 22-23 March.
EU member-states withdraw their ambassadors from Minsk in late February in response to Belarus' decree to expel heads of the EU and Polish missions. This was Minsk's response to new EU sanctions against the authoritarian regime of President Alexander Lukashenko.
