In the minister's words, Lithuania and China have different positions on the situation in Syria where scores of civilians are estimated to have been killed by the government forces.
"I raised this issue and said that we have an observer, and that I would like to know China's attitude. I expressed our position that violence against civilians is absolutely unacceptable," the Lithuanian defense minister told BNS on Monday.
"The positions seem to be different as different attitude are also declared at the United Nations. An obvious difference is seen during the votes," Juknevičienė said.
A civil unrest broke out in Syria in March 2011. Around 16,000 people have been killed in the country since then. The West accuse the Syrian regime led by President Bashar Al Assad of killing civilians and want the United Nations to step up pressure on Damascus.
But the Western plans are being resisted by Russia and China who have so far blocked several votes on sanctions against Syria.
