The consulate is being established to expand the network of Lithuanian consulates in the United States to ensure protection of Lithuania's economic, cultural and consular interests in the US, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The new consul will reside in Aspen where meetings of the US' influential economists, politicians and representatives of culture regularly take place.
Prunskis is a medical doctor specializing in interventional pain management. He's also an active member of the Lithuanian community in America and a member of the US business associations.
He is the 18th Lithuanian honorary consul in the United States.

Lithuania setting up consulate in US Colorado state
Lithuania is setting up a consulate in Aspen, Colorado. Honorary Consul Jonas Vytautas Prunskis has already been appointed to head the consulate.
