Lithuania to host March of the Living to honor memory of Holocaust victims

A walk of March of the Living will take place from the Paneriai railway station to the Paneriai memorial in the outskirts of Vilnius on Monday to pay tribute to the memory of Holocaust victims.

The event will repeat a stretch of the road prisoners of the Vilnius ghetto had to walk to their death in the Paneriai forest.

Organizers and participants of the walk will include former ghetto prisoners, descendants of Holocaust survivors living in Israel and members of the Vilnius Jewish community. Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius is also taking part in the event.

In the afternoon, an awards ceremony of the Righteous Among Nations will take place in the Tolerance Center of the Vilnius Gaon Museum, with awards to be conferred to Ona Gelžinienė and Jonas Gelžinis.
