An art exhibition from the Paris-based Louvre Museum is to be held at the Lithuanian Art Museum in Vilnius next year.

Details of the exhibition are being coordinated by Louvre expert Pascal Torres currently visiting Lithuania. The exhibition should feature works by 18th century French painter Antoine Watteau, the Art Museum said.

The Louvre usually refuses to lend paintings to countries presiding over the European Union (EU); however, the museum pledged to make an exception for Lithuania. Henri Loyrette, director of the Louvre, has sent a confirmation to Lithuanian Ambassador to France Jolanta Balčiūnienė that the museum would hold an art exhibition in Vilnius in the second half of 2013.

Torres, a prominent French essayist and curator of the Edmont de Rothschild graphic collection at the Louvre, is giving a public lecture on de Rothschild's collection at the National Art Gallery on Wednesday.
