"The ministers agreed it was important for Georgia to continue seeking European and Euro-Atlantic integration after the elections. Ažubalis restated Lithuania's willingness to continue support to Georgia on the road," the ministry said in a press release.
Ažubalis expressed certitude that the reform process would keep its pace in Georgia, and the country would allocate sufficient administrative resources to prepare for negotiations with the EU.
On Tuesday, Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili pledged to peacefully hand over the mandate to his competitor Bidzina Ivanishvili following the unexpected defeat of the ruling party in the parliamentary elections.
Ivanishvili's Georgian Dream party may have 84 mandates in the country's 150-seat parliament, while Saakashvili's United National Movement should fill the remaining 66 seats, shows the latest preliminary data published by electoral authorities.
