Speaking at a news conference held in Brussels to present Lithuania's priorities during the EU Council presidency, Karoblis said the issue should be discussed by ambassadors of EU member-states.

"We need more clarity from the United States' side," Karoblis told Brussels journalists.

In his words, the issue could be discussed at meetings of EU officials, which address data security.

EU institutions and some countries, including Germany and France, have demanded US comments on reports published by Der Spiegel about US bugging EU bureaus in Brussels and the United States.
