The team arrived in the Town Hall Square in central Vilnius on an open-top bus from the airport and were greeted by state leaders and a huge crowd of fans holding Lithuanian flags. A concert was also organized for the occasion.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius and Speaker of the Seimas Vydas Gedvilas arrived to congratulate the basketball players.

Lithuania lost to France 66:80 in the championship final in Slovenia on Sunday and won silver medals after a break of 18 years, with France winning gold for the first time in the championship history.

Lithuania made it into the final for the fifth time in its history. The Baltic country won gold medals in the FIBA European Basketball Championship in 1937, 1939 and 2003.
