"The minister of national defense (…) stressed that it's important to organize more regular NATO exercises based on Article 5 and with as realistic scenarios as possible," the minister was quoted as saying in a statement on Wednesday.

Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Poland will hold exercises of the NATO Response Force, based on Article 5 on collective defense of the North Atlantic Treaty, next year.

According to the ministry, Langheld confirmed the Alliance's security guarantees for Lithuania.

"NATO will give complete assurance that you are under protection," the general was quoted a saying.
