"I cannot confirm we've received any information about potential fighting or anything of the kind. Two officials from Vilnius and a Kaunas police officer are going there in line with a cooperation scheme. I think it will be useful for our future relations," Algirdas Stoncaitis, Lithuania's deputy commissioner general, told BNS on Wednesday.

Lithuanian police presence were stepped up during the first match between the two football clubs in Vilnius a week ago.

In addition to officers of the Public Security Service, over 30 Polish police officers were in Vilnius at the time.

Seven violations were reported during the Vilnius match last week – fans of the Lithuanian and Polish football clubs were penalized for public drinking and petty hooliganism.

Last week, Žalgiris scored a victory 1:0 during the first game of UEFA third qualifying round.

Polish football fans are notorious for being among the most aggressive crowds in Eastern Europe.
