London court to resume hearing of Snoras bank's ex-owners extradition case

The Westminster Magistrates' Court in London is scheduled to resume the hearing of the extradition case of Vladimir Antonov and Raimondas Baranauskas, former owners of Lithuania’s bankrupt bank Snoras, on Thursday. The two are wanted in Lithuania in connection with numerous suspicions related to the collapse of the commercial bank.

The court's International Jurisdiction Office has informed BNS that the hearing will start on Thursday and will last 12 days, adding that no information on the hearing results will be provided during the period.

Lithuanian prosecutors have brought suspicions against Antonov and Baranauskas of pocketing about 1.7 billion litas (EUR 492.8m) worth of Snoras assets.

Prosecutors have also restricted the suspects' rights to 805 million litas worth of assets.

Antonov and Baranauskas currently reside in Great Britain and do not want to be handed over to Lithuania, which has issued a European arrest warrant for their arrest.

The Lithuanian government nationalized Snoras on November 16, 2011. A court opened bankruptcy proceedings against the bank on December 7.
