The Myanmar opposition leader expressed her gratitude at a meeting with Lithuanian Ambassador to the United States Žygimantas Pavilionis in Washington DC on Wednesday, Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.
Aung San Suu Kyi also stressed the importance of Lithuania's support during its presidency of the Community of Democracies in 2009-2011.
The ambassador invited Aung San Suu Kyi to come to Lithuania.
Aung San Suu Kyi received the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 1990 and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991. In 2010, the politician was allowed to leave her home after 15 years under home arrest.
