"Based on this morning's information we received from consular institutions, there is no information on Lithuanian casualties," Rasa Jakilaitienė, spokeswoman for Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, told BNS on Tuesday.

On Monday, two explosions near the finishing line of the Boston Marathon left three people dead and at least 140 injured.

Lithuanian Ambassador to the United States Žygimantas Pavilionis told news website delfi.lt that six Lithuanians took part in the marathon and they contacted the embassy to say they were safe.

"We knew that six Lithuanians were running the marathon. But they called us themselves and said they were safe and sound as all the Lithuanians had finished the distance. We called leaders of Lithuanian communities, the honorary consul. Of course, everyone is in shock," the ambassador said.
