President Dalia Grybauskaitė and MP Agnė Zuokienė - among Top Global Women

Each year, international magazine and website Diplomatic Courier makes a list of Top Global Women. This year, the Lithuanian President Dalia Grybausaitė and MP Agnė Zuokienė made into the list of 78 women, the Lithuanian daily Lietuvos Rytas reports on Saturday.

"Every day, all around the world, women work to improve the lives of those around them. Their families and their communities may know how important their work is, but all too often, their work goes unrecognized by those who benefit from it throughout the rest of the world," the organizers say.

The Diplomatic Courier honors the Top Global Women who have worked to improve the world. "All of these women were nominated by other women, and while some may be famous and others are not so well-known, all of them are deserving of this honor, and much more," the Diplomatic Courier website says.

Member of the Seimas Agnė Zuokienė is introduced as a humanitarian leader. Her breast cancer prevention project was not left unnoticed. Since 2003, the low-budget project has encouraged women to undergo regular breast examination. The project was rated positively by the European Parliament several years ago for its huge impact on the public.

"Agnė has been at the forefront of breast cancer awareness programs and advocating for treatment and research in Lithuania. Through the “Pink Bus” project, Agnė has facilitated doctors to travel to the most remote locations in Lithuania to do mobile breast cancer exams and advocate awareness," the Diplomatic Courier writes.
