Prominent Lithuanian film director Arūnas Žebriūnas dies at 83

Prominent Lithuanian film director Arūnas Žebriūnas passed away at the age of 83 after a severe disease in Vilnius on Friday.

Žebriūnas was a member of the steering group of the Sąjūdis liberation movement.

He has directed a number of films and was awarded the Silver Crane, the annual Lithuanian film and television award for best actors, directors and film artists,  in 2010.

In 2011, he received the National Culture and Art Prize for his lifetime achievements and work.
