Responsibility handover launched in three more Lithuanian-led areas of Afghanistan's Ghor

Responsibility handover was launched in three more areas of Afghanistan's Ghor province on Tuesday at a solemn ceremony in Dowlat Yar organized by the Lithuanian-led Provincial Reconstruction Team and Afghanistan's National Security Forces.

According to the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense, the third stage of responsibility handover was launched in three provincial areas of Lal Wa Sarjangal, Chahar Sadah and Dowlat Yar.

The third stage of responsibility handover, including the three above-mentioned areas, was launched on 13 May covering an area with 80 percent of the provincial population.

Responsibility handover on Ghor province is expected to be finished by the fall of 2013.

Lithuania has led the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Ghor since 2005 but plans to withdraw in 2013. Currently around 150 Lithuanian troops are deployed in Ghor.
