Russia to accredit new defense attaché in Vilnius

Russia's new defense attaché Yevgeny Prokopenko will be accredited in Vilnius on Tuesday at the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense.

Until his appointment to Lithuania, Colonel Prokopenko served as a deputy of Russia's military representative at the Military Staff Committee of the United Nations Security Council since 2009. As of 2012, he was a deputy head of the Security Board of the Ministry of Defense's Conscription Service.

Lithuania's Deputy Minister of National Defense Marijus Velička will also bestow upon Russia's outgoing defense attaché Sergey Sazonov a medal "For Merits" for his personal contribution to the development of cooperation between Lithuania and Russia.
