Over the four days of the inspection, the Belarusian expert group will check western and central Lithuania, while Russian military inspectors will examine the eastern territory, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said.

"The inspectors will visit training grounds in Kairiai, Pabradė, Gaiziūnai and Kazlų Rūda. They will be acquainted with a number of military units, namely, the Mechanized Infantry Brigade Iron Wolf, Air Force Aviation Base and, for the first time – the staff of the National Defense Volunteer Forces," the Defense Ministry said in a press release.

The region will be examined in the framework of the Vienna Document of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Under the Vienna Document, every OSCE country has a right to check any other country of the organization for unlawful military activities that should be reported in advance or presence of undeclared military capacities.

Lithuanian ministry inspectors this year verified military units in Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Armenia, while Russian and Belarusian inspectors performed a surveillance flight in the framework of the Open Air Space Agreement.
