In his words, members of the Russian political elite with expansionist ambitions focus their attention on countries like Ukraine, Belarus, and Armenia.
"I would like to finish with good news, as we are in Lithuania, have a difficult history and we have already 'liberated' you once. Is there a threat of this heroic deed repeating? I am convinced there is not. I am convinced that we are highly inconvenient as neighbors but we're harmless," Gozman said at a conference held at the International Relations and Political Science Institute of Vilnius University.
Gozman, the head of the Union of Right Forces, noted that the Russian society was not willing to pay for actual implementation of imperial ambitions.
"They want it to restore itself by way of a miracle and free of charge. This does not happen," the Russian opposition figure said.
"The independence of Ukraine, Belarus, and Armenia has not been recognized psychologically. It has been recognized de jure but not in the minds of people. They cannot get on with Ukraine or Belarus being a foreign country. Meanwhile, the independence of the Baltic states has been recognized. The relations with the countries may be bad. They're mediocre with Lithuania, while Latvia and Estonia are 'fascist countries'. However, considering that you're bad in their eyes, you're finally independent," Gozman said in Vilnius.
