Vilnius has got into the final of the European Youth Capital 2015 competition along three other European cities – Varna (Bulgaria), Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and the Russian city of Ivanov.

The Lithuanian capital has already outrivaled eight cities, including Sweden's Gothenburg, Spain's la Laguna, the Georgian capital Tbilisi and others.

The finalist will soon take part in the second stage of the competition, and the winner will be announced at an award ceremony in Slovenia in November.

The European Youth Capital is the title awarded to a European city for the period of one year, during which it is given the chance to showcase, through a multi-faceted program, its youth-related cultural, social, political and economic life and development. The European Youth Capital is an initiative by the European Youth Forum, and the first capital was chosen in 2009. The current capital is the Portuguese city of Braga.
