Hollister Lietuva Manufacturing Facility has opened a new production line

Hollister Incorporated, an independent, employee-owned company that develops, manufactures, and markets healthcare products worldwide has installed the cleanroom in Lithuania at its latest plant in Kaunas. This step allows the company to expand the manufacturing of its continence care products to the plant in Lithuania.

A cleanroom is a sterile factory premises that is usually designed for specialized industrial production or research. The clean room complies with cleanliness class ISO 8 according to the ISO 14644 standard for clean zones. To date, the Kaunas plant has been producing ostomy care products.

"Our Mission is to make life more rewarding and dignified for the people who use our products and services. Although we planned to launch the second production line in 2021, taking into account the expectations of customers and a successful start in Lithuania, we decided to bring forward the start a bit. This is a strategic investment of the company, and allows us to continue to advance our activities in Kaunas,” says Shane Caher, General Manager of the Hollister Incorporated plant in Lithuania.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the quarantine, the company had to reorganize its work, including waiving visits from foreign specialists and advisers. However, the premises were renovated and adapted for active operations in just half a year.

"The production of continence care products has exceptionally high requirements. Associates must follow strict rules related to hygiene and safety. We monitor the production and a variety of other factors in the cleanroom,” says Saulius Bitinas, Continence Care Plant Manager, in Lithuania.

Currently, the new production line employs 60 specialists, and another 50 are expected to be employed by the end of the year. Operators-production workers, production shift masters are actively being sought.

It is hoped that this Hollister Lietuva solution will increase production capacity, enable the provision of support services to colleagues abroad and help the plant move towards becoming a center of excellence for Hollister Incorporated.
