According to Vytas Volkevičius, main Hotrans shareholder, this is currently the largest shipment of essential means of medical protection that has reached the country. Based on governmental order, Hoptrans has organised three air shipments and helped deliver 96 tonnes of critical protective equipment for medics of Lithuania. The transportation service was organized by offering the best price and fastest schedule.

“Hoptrans could have transported this vitally important shipment by road from Germany. However, our government, in consideration of the severity of the situation and the demand for medical protective equipment at such a critical time, decided to organize the shipment by the fastest means possible – air transport. This is what we did,” V. Volkevičius says.

The government has announced that 3 million units of single-use gloves, over 33 thousand protective eyeglasses and 200 thousand FFP2 class respirators, as well as other protective equipment for medics, have been quickly delivered.

According to V. Volkevičius, organisation of the logistical operation took three days: from loading in China to reloading in Frankfurt, to finally delivering the medical equipment to Kaunas Airport and distributing it to the central warehouse of Lithuanian Post in Kaunas.

Hoptrans Group is a 100% Lithuanian capital company, owned by two Lithuanian citizens – Vytas Volkevičius and Valdas Buivydis, who have been developing the logistics company group together since 1993. Currently, Hoptrans employs over two thousand staff and pays all its taxes to the Lithuanian government.

According to V. Volkevičius, the medical equipment was flown into Kaunas last Saturday morning.

The delivered medical equipment was distributed to the country’s largest clinics, state hospitals, ambulance stations, as well as doctors working in mobile checkpoints established by the municipalities.
