Ignitis Group partners with Nordex Energy SE & Co. KG for wind farm project in Mažeikiai region

Ignitis Group chose Nordex Energy SE & Co. KG as the partner responsible for the construction and maintenance of the wind farm project in Mažeikiai region developed by the Group.

The agreement with Nordex Energy SE & Co. KG was signed by VVP Investment, a company controlled by Ignitis Group’s subsidiary company – Ignitis Renewables. According to the agreement, Nordex Energy SE & Co. KG will perform service and maintenance of the wind farm for 15 years after it is constructed.

“The signed agreement is a very important step towards the implementation of Mažeikiai wind farm project and contribution towards the implementation of strategic goal of Ignitis Group to increase green production portfolio. In a little more than two years 14 wind turbines in this wind farm will produce green electricity with the total operational capacity of 63 MW”, said Aleksandr Spiridonov, the CEO of Ignitis Renewables.

Total cost of turbines, construction and installation works as well as maintenance service agreement will amount to EUR 77.5m (excluding VAT). The agreement was signed after the conclusion of the public procurement tender, during which the offers were evaluated in terms of price and other criteria such as: planned construction of the wind farm, project implementation period, construction guarantee as well as evaluation of payment terms.

Preparatory works for the Mažeikiai wind farm commenced at the end July, this year. The infrastructure is estimated to be completed before the end of 2021 and the turbines – by the end of 2022. The total amount of planned investments into Mažeikiai wind farm is over EUR 80m.

TAEM Projektų Valdymas is another contributing company to the implementation of Mažeikiai wind farm project, which will take care of construction management, technical maintenance while road construction and land improvement will be taken care of by Kuršata and other partners.

Ignitis Renewables manages renewable sources projects in the Baltics and Poland and is responsible for the effectiveness of the operational wind farms, supervision of farms under construction and their development. By implementing new wind and solar (green) energy projects, the company contributes to the strategic goals of the Group by increasing its green production portfolio. Ignitis Group seeks to create value to its shareholders and is working to increase operational green production capacity up to 4 GW by 2030.
