“The safety of our staff members and clients has been the most important priority for our operations for almost two years now. While it may appear that we have grown accustomed to living with the pandemic, we must remain vigilant. Iki staff members work every day so that everyone may safely and patiently wait for the situation to improve without lacking food and other essentials, and I believe that the insurance will reassure them.. And, of course, I hope that the insurance will not prove necessary for any of us,” says Nijolė Kvietkauskaitė, CEO of the company Palink, which manages the retail chain Iki.
All Iki staff have been insured with a special insurance for the period of one year, and this applies for hospitalisation due to COVID-19, accidents and other diseases such as the ‘flu. It also applies in cases of death due to accidents or infectious diseases, including COVID-19, and the policy applies to staff members not only in Lithuania, but also those around the world.
“This way, we thank our staff members for their loyalty. This special insurance is yet another extra perk for our staff members during this very intensive period, and we hope it can be of value,” says N. Kvietkauskaitė.
Back in autumn 2020, Iki was the first retail chain to open an emotional-aid hotline for its staff members named Kaip Jautiesi? [How do you Feel?], where employees can receive consultations and share their emotional state with a professional psychologist free of charge. Last October, the retail chain made sure all interested staff received flu vaccinations free of charge, allocating over 30 thousand euros for the vaccinations.
In order to create an environment of the safety for both the retail network’s staff and customers, all safety measures have been employed to regulate customer flows and invest in the installation of self-service checkouts, which help shop faster and avoid close contact, as well as other necessary safety measures.
Iki has already invested 3.4 million euros for the purpose of ensuring the safety of its staff and customers.
