Bloomberg L.P. has been interested in higher education in Lithuania since 2015. The company chose KTU as a long term partner; the only in the Baltics Bloomberg Financial Market Lab based on the partnership between KTU and Bloomberg L.P. was opened at KTU five years ago.

“Working closely with KTU for five years, we saw the potential of this higher education institution to join the ELP network. We observed that in the difficult conditions of the global market and the beginning of the quarantine period, they were well able to use the available resources and move the use of terminals to online mode functioning 24/7. Seeing the strengthening partnership between Bloomberg and KTU, we decided to extend our cooperation with the aim to increase the operating capacity of the only Bloomberg Financial Market Lab in the Baltics,” notes Arek Osinki, Bloomberg L.P. representative to the Baltic States.

KTU community, including lecturers, current and future students, graduates, researchers, will have the opportunity to work together on a single platform that connects top level universities. The network will provide the possibilities to expand their competencies via online courses, taking part in online conferences, discussions, and even to apply for a job in international companies through joint projects.

“Partnership with international companies, institutions and research centres must be based not only on the mutual desire to innovate or help developing skills, but also on the ability to adapt to changing environment and find the best solutions. KTU integration into the Bloomberg partner network together with the most prestigious universities of the world only proves that we are moving into the right direction,” says KTU SEB Vice-Dean for Research Kęstutis Duoba.

According to Raminta Benetytė, KTU SEB Associate Professor of Finance and the Head of Bloomberg Laboratory says that the infrastructure available often is among the main reasons hindering the development of practical skills, based on scientific hypotheses and empirical research. Therefore, science and business partnerships on local and international level are becoming essential today.

“While it is not easy to build and maintain a strong partnership with the international giants in the global market that requires an immediate response to changes, everything is possible through innovation, information technology, available finances, creativity and, above all, an infinite desire to move forward with the leaders,” says Benetytė.

KTU SEB graduate financial analyst Žilvinas Kalvanas adds that during his time at the university, there were many challenges but all of them led to where he is now today professionally.

“In my opinion, analytical skills, critical thinking based on in-depth analysis, usage of different analytical tools are among the facets that allow to successfully implement functions of a financial analyst, enabling the company to manage financial resources effectively,” says KTU graduate.
