The coronavirus pandemic has already shifted the job market worldwide and Lithuania is not an exception. Some sectors already experienced dramatic changes with major layoffs and wage cuts, others, on the other hand, are growing and continue to hire people. To help job-seekers during these uncertain times, the MeetFrank recruitment app has made some of their real-time job market data publicly available, the company wrote in a press release.

“We want to help the community and give people more hope during these difficult times. We have already added the remote work category to our app. Now, we’re making our job market data publicly available to show how the market is doing,” Kaarel Holm, CEO and co-founder, MeetFrank said. “MeetFrank Job Market Insights is a free tool for browsing the latest job market data. We want to give job-seekers and companies real-time information about job market trends, salary levels, competitiveness, and much more.”

The most competitive fields

From now on MeetFrank offers Job Market Insights where people can filter their industry and country statistics and use the data to understand how competitive it is to find a job in their field, what are the average salaries, and browse job offers. The charts also give an overview of the overall changes and trends in the market.

As a result, people have more information to find a suitable role and get through difficult times.

According to MeetFrank data as of April 2020, it is pretty hard to find a job in Lithuania for IT project managers, design specialists, sales and marketing specialists, while the least competitive industries are software engineering, IT and system administration and data analytics.

Mr. Holm notes that the job market is an alive organism and data is always changing meaning that already tomorrow these trends might change.

All in all, the main industries hiring people on MeetFrank are IT Services, SaaS businesses, SMB’s. The companies are mostly looking to hire what is called “top talent” – experts in the field of software development, data analytics, business management, marketing, design, sales.

Remote work booming

MeetFrank data suggests that because of the global pandemic there has been a considerable drop in job offers, with a 13% fall taking place in March, compared to the steady growth that was happening the same time last year. Furthermore, the number of job applications saw a drop already in February and the first half of March, meaning that people were cautious about job change during the uncertain times.

The drop continues in April: in Lithuania, only the job offers fell by 14%, and job applications fell by a third, compared to March.

One more considerable change can be seen in remote job offers and applications during the quarantine. According to MeetFrank’s data, the number of remote work offers has nearly doubled compared to the situation in January, while remote work applications in the third week of March had risen by a staggering 135% compared to January. Although in April both remote job offers and applications numbers fell.

A remote work-only section is new in the recruitment app, and MeetFrank invites all companies to help the community by adding their remote job offers to the app. All new companies hiring with MeetFrank will have a free trial that is extended throughout the crisis.
