Bold strategic moves in full swing during pandemic
Instantly reacting to rapid changes in spring, 2020, ZITICITY introduced its delivery services to e-commerce. Before, the company mainly focused on food or flower delivery.
“Considering the rocketing growth of the e-tailing, active business digitalisation and shoppers’ transition into internet buying, we decided to expand the scope of ZITICITY activities. The value and competitive advantages we put into the hands of online stores have been praised soon. In 2020 we collaborated with nearly 1,500 businesses 70% of which are e-commerce,” comments Laimonas Noreika, CEO and co-founder of ZITICITY.
The innovative urban delivery solution is used and trusted by such companies as Telia, Audimas, Douglas or Eurovaistine. In September, 2020, ZITICITY entered into partnership with Pigu Group, the biggest e-tailing player in the Baltics market, and began providing same-day deliveries to pigu.lt clients in Lithuania as well as to Kaup24.ee - Estonia.
The decision to adapt ZITICITY business with an eye on e-commerce proved to be effective during big sale days and pre-Christmas period. Through the Q4, the company earned 56% of yearly revenue.
Over 1 million euros to couriers
L. Noreika highly appreciates and praises couriers’ efforts, who have been working on the frontline while the world tried to combat the pandemic. During strictly regulated quarantine, couriers have been securing society with goods necessary to live the full life. They also helped ZITICITY to throw struggling businesses a lifeline with its on-demand services.
“In 2020 our couriers’ network doubled, compared to 2019. Through the past year, the couriers’ earnings on our platform exceeded €1.1 million. We aimed to help not only merchants to keep their companies afloat but also to support those who lost the source of secure income,” shares L Noreika.
€2.2 million funding, new cities, ambitious plans
In June, 2020, while successfully developing activities in three Lithuanian cities as well as in the capitals of Estonia and France, ZITICITY rose €2.2 million seed investment for future growth.
Through 2020, the same-day delivery provider began offering its services in seven additional cities: Lyon, Bordeaux (France), Siauliai, Panevezys, Alytus, Marijampole and Druskininkai (Lithuania).
During 2021, ZITICITY also plans to expand its geographical presence in Estonia by adding two new cities, to launch deliveries in nine more French cities and enter three new regional cities in Lithuania.
“Our five times bigger team does not want to stop even for a minute. In the Q1 of 2021 we plan to launch deliveries in two new markets: Polish and Latvian. In the upcoming years we strive to become the leading home-delivery provider,” reveals L. Noreika.
