AMBASSADOR IN EXILE (DVD single channel projection, 11:26, 2007) by Nomeda & Gediminas Urbonas is part of the Villa Lituania project, commissioned for the Lithuanian pavilion at the 52nd Biennale di Venezia 2007.
In the film, the diplomat Kazys Lozoraitis remembers his childhood spent with his father, the ambassador, and his family living in Villa Lituania, Lithuanian embassy in Rome during 1939-1940. Excerpts from the Lozoraičiai family archive register the moments of everyday life in the villa. The idyllic story of living in Italy is complemented by the revelation of the circumstances of how the embassy was embezzled.
