Some 33.4 percent of the Lithuanian population was at risk of poverty or social exclusion in 2011, compared with 33 percent in 2010.
Higher percentage rates were in Bulgaria, 49.1 percent, Romania, and Latvia, both 40 percent. In Estonia, poverty was a threat faced by 23.1 percent. The EU average rate was 23.4 percent.
Persons at risk of poverty are those with incomes below 60 percent of the national average.
In Lithuania, the at-risk-of-poverty threshold in 2011 was 691 litas (EUR 200.3) monthly for a single person and 1,452 litas for a family of two adults and two children under 14.
