“Both Sweden and Germany require that passengers arriving in their countries have negative coronavirus tests no older than 48 hours. We seek to meet our customers’ needs and facilitate travel under pandemic conditions. Those unable to take coronavirus tests ahead of time will be able to be tested right before the journey,” says DFDS Klaipėda terminal operations chief Robertas Kogelis.
For the convenience of passengers, every evening from 17:30 testing will be available at a Synlab testing centre located in Klaipėda’s central terminal. The centre is located near the DFDS customer service area, where passengers register for their trips, thus making it especially convenient for those wanting to get tested.
Viktorija Lapė, Synlab’s marketing chief, says that the traveller’s testing package will cost 40 euro: “The advantage of the service we are offering is that it will be provided to the passenger on-site and the results, as well as the necessary certificate, will be available in three languages – Lithuanian, English and Russian – in under an hour. The certificate can be presented by the passenger at Swedish and German ports. The samples necessary for testing will be taken either from an individual’s saliva or nasopharynx.”
According to V. Lapė, the goal of this service is to help passengers feel safe while complying with the strict requirements of foreign countries. Robertas Kogelis reminds customers who want to be tested that they must pre-register online. DFDS also offers coronavirus testing at Estonia’s port in Paldiski and the UK’s port in Newcastle.
